This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.
• Define the technical trajectory of Masabi's payments platform, playing a key role in architecture, standards, and engineering best practices.
• Create and implement scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-efficient payment solutions that align with Masabi's platform objectives.
• Assist teams in transitioning to a modern, microservices-based architecture while effectively managing delivery priorities and ensuring long-term platform sustainability.
• Maintain close involvement in technical delivery through architecture evaluations, design conversations, and targeted hands-on contributions as necessary.
• Identify and address intricate technical challenges regarding scalability, resilience, operational performance, and system development.
• Serve as a senior technical consultant across engineering teams, advocating for and influencing technical choices, particularly in the payments sector.
• Collaborate with external vendors and payment partners on integrations, technical alignment, and problem resolution.
• Aid in planning the technical roadmap, prioritization, technical scoping, and architecture discussions for complex projects.
• Generate clear technical documentation and contribute to engineering standards, technical forums, and best practices throughout the organization.
• Extensive experience working with payment systems, including integrations with PSPs, gateways, or acquirers.
• Solid understanding of payment flows, transaction lifecycles, and system design considerations.
• Experience in designing and evolving distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Demonstrated experience at a Principal or Staff level, influencing technical direction across multiple teams or domains.
• Strong judgment with the ability to balance immediate delivery needs against long-term architectural goals.
• Proficient in navigating ambiguity and transforming complex issues into clear, actionable technical strategies.
• Effective and thoughtful communicator, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willing to be hands-on when required while keeping a focus on system-level impact.
• Significant experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and contemporary infrastructure practices.
• Experience with systems where scale, reliability, performance, and cost considerations are crucial, and the ability to navigate these decisions thoughtfully.
• Contributions to engineering standards, architectural patterns, or platform direction are highly valued.
• Interest in or exposure to AI-enabled systems, particularly in understanding their architectural implications in production environments.
