Principal Engineer – Consumer & Merchant Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Establish architectural standards throughout the technology organization.

• Recognize and resolve systemic technical challenges across various domains.

• Develop engineering principles, practices, and technology standards.

• Contribute to the organization's technology strategy focusing on AI.

• Lead technical initiatives that span across teams and domains.

• Mentor Staff Engineers and assist in cultivating the next generation of technical leaders.

• Provide support for technical due diligence concerning strategic partnerships and mergers and acquisitions.

• Represent InPost within the engineering community through conferences, publications, and industry initiatives.

• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to align architectural direction with product requirements.

• Define target architecture while transitioning away from legacy systems.

• Ensure product delivery and maintain software quality.

• Influence the long-term technology direction and tackle complex technical issues across multiple teams and domains.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.

• More than 3 years of technical influence beyond a single team, in roles such as Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Architect, or equivalent.

• Proven experience in making architectural decisions that have long-term effects across multiple teams.

• Strong engineering background with the capacity to engage in in-depth technical discussions.

• Experience in building customer-facing products and influencing their technical and product direction.

• History of establishing engineering standards and mentoring senior engineers.

• Proficiency in utilizing AI tools and large language models like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude.

• Ability to critically assess AI-generated outputs and apply them judiciously in professional workflows.

• Familiarity with public cloud and cloud-native architectures.

• In-depth knowledge of scalability, reliability, observability, APIs, and system integration.

• Effective communication skills with engineering teams and C-level stakeholders.

• Professional proficiency in English at the C1 level.

• Java is the preferred backend technology, although candidates from other backend ecosystems will also be considered.
