Principal Electrical Component Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Comprehend program requirements and Statements of Work (SOWs) to ascertain the environmental and characteristic application requirements of program components.

• Offer guidance on technology insertion and parts selection/standardization while ensuring compliance with business, component parameters, application environments, and circuit application constraints.

• Create and update component drawings along with the relevant verification data packages.

• Analyze electronic component and assembly reliability and construction data, preparing information to aid in the review and adjudication by the Part and Material Control Board.

• Conduct investigations for alternative parts and create comparison matrices highlighting the differences and similarities among the components.

• Collaborate with various internal stakeholders and external suppliers/manufacturers to define component risk and verification requirements.

• Support component selection and library applications by coordinating and generating the program Bill of Material (BOM) using a collaborative toolset.

• Present findings on component standardization, design library, obsolescence management, and termination finish risk during design reviews for programs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 8 years of relevant experience, which may include a combination of the following:

• Familiarity with integrated circuits, semiconductors, and passive devices.

• Understanding of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for military and aerospace flight applications.

• Knowledge of Component MIL drawings, standards, test specifications, and related QPLs and QMLs.

• Experience in developing and managing BOM (Bill of Material) for both developmental and production programs.
