Principal Architect, Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Serve as the lead technical advisor for intricate Data projects, taking ownership of critical architectural decisions and ensuring effective technical execution.

• Collaborate directly with clients to grasp their business needs, data environments, and technical obstacles, transforming them into scalable solutions on Google Cloud.

• Outline architectures encompassing data platforms, pipelines, modeling, integration, governance, security, and scalability.

• Maintain a hands-on technical role, assisting engineering teams with complicated implementation issues and facilitating delivery.

• Create estimates for necessary skills, resources, and timelines for projects, and convert them into technical proposals.

• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Cloud Architects, and AI/ML teams to integrate Zencore’s Cloud, Data, and AI capabilities.

• Develop and refine architectural standards, reusable patterns, and engineering best practices within the Data practice.

• Mentor and empower engineers and architects.

• Assist in solution development and pre-sales discussions that require deep Data expertise, articulating technical approaches and business value.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in designing and delivering enterprise-scale data architectures within complex cloud environments.

• Profound hands-on experience with the Google Cloud data ecosystem, especially BigQuery.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL.

• Significant experience with Python.

• Strong familiarity with modern data engineering and orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow / Cloud Composer, and similar technologies.

• Experience in designing scalable data platforms, pipelines, data models, and integration strategies.

• Solid understanding of data governance, security, quality, lineage, and observability.

• Capability to convert intricate business and data requirements into a clear technical vision, architecture, and delivery roadmap.

• Ability to navigate between high-level architectural concepts and hands-on technical implementation.

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and a solid grasp of development best practices.

• Experience leading large-scale data modernization and transformation projects.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence engineering teams and senior client stakeholders.

• Experience in professional services, consulting, or cloud partner settings is highly preferred.

• Strong communication abilities, capable of conveying complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
