This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Oversee the strategy for data science and analytics in the transformation of underwriting software products, guiding the process from problem identification to production deployment.
• Develop and implement causal, predictive, and scenario-based analytical capabilities to support decisions in underwriting, pricing, and risk management.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering to integrate analytics and reporting into essential product workflows.
• Define, monitor, and communicate product, operational, and business metrics as well as OKRs that align with organizational and underwriting transformation objectives.
• Create scalable reporting frameworks and dashboards that offer insight into product performance, financial implications, and delivery results.
• Present executive-ready insights that effectively convey progress, risks, and trade-offs.
• Provide technical leadership in causal inference and counterfactual analysis to evaluate changes in underwriting and pricing.
• Promote ongoing, cross-functional communication among Product, Engineering, Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial, and Executive teams.
• More than 5 years of experience offering analytical leadership and expertise to forecasting and financial software products.
• Extensive knowledge in causal inference, including causal modeling frameworks and bias-adjustment methods.
• Experience in developing counterfactual and “what-if” scenario analysis systems at scale.
• Strong foundation in time-series forecasting and predictive modeling utilizing contemporary statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Proven capability to design and implement end-to-end analytics or machine learning pipelines.
• Over 5 years of strong Python skills along with working knowledge of SQL and distributed data platforms (e.g., Spark).
• More than 5 years of demonstrated success in translating ambiguous business and product inquiries into quantifiable analytical solutions.
• Over 5 years of experience collaborating with product, engineering, and business leaders to shape strategy and outcomes.
• A successful track record of delivering analytics and reporting capabilities embraced by business and executive stakeholders.
• Exceptional executive communication and storytelling abilities.
• More than 5 years of experience mentoring and leading senior data science and analytics professionals.
• Experience in people management is a plus.
