This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead and execute planning and implementation activities for health promotion and wellness education.
• Engage in skill development and capacity-building initiatives.
• Contribute to research and evaluation efforts.
• Supply consumer-focused information and reference materials regarding eating disorders through both print and digital resources.
• Participate in academic discussions and forums.
• Design, execute, and revise community assessments to identify the educational needs related to eating disorders within the population.
• Identify and create wellness and educational initiatives for eating disorders tailored to specific groups.
• Build collaborative relationships with community members, clinical staff, health administration, partner organizations, and government entities.
• Plan and execute health service promotions, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives.
• Join community networks that focus on addressing health issues related to eating disorders.
• Assist community resources in accessing health-related services and advocate for opportunities to build skills and capacity.
• Identify and design health events, forums, and learning opportunities.
• Implement strategies for health promotion that encompass health education, social marketing, population health, and community development.
• Provide culturally competent and ethnoculturally sensitive strategies for promoting awareness of eating disorders.
• Conduct or coordinate in-service presentations for Community Program staff.
• Recommend and help procure accurate, current, reliable, and relevant educational materials for adults, youth, and children.
• Offer referral assistance for adult influencers, youth, and children.
• Present at health conferences, seminars, and workshops.
• Explore opportunities to publish research outcomes.
• Mentor students from community health programs.
• Resident of York Region, Ontario, Canada.
• Possession of a degree in a health-related field or an equivalent qualification.
• Membership in a regulated health or social service college.
• Qualification as a mental health clinician or counselor, or an undergraduate degree with additional training in counseling or mental health.
• A minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant practical experience and/or 3 months of on-the-job training.
• At least two years of experience in a mental health environment focused on children and youth.
• Background in health promotion, health education, or education for children and youth.
• Experience dealing with anxiety disorders, depression, past trauma, eating disorders, or motivational enhancement.
• A valid driver's license and personal transportation are required.
• Knowledge and experience in health promotion, population health, community development principles, and health determinants.
• Exceptional organizational, time management, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Facilitation skills with the ability to achieve consensus among clinical, professional, educational, and community groups, both in-person and online.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with teams, program staff, community practitioners, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
• Demonstrated respect for individuals and communities, with an understanding of their unique needs.
• Familiarity with both conventional and alternative health practices, wellness, and cultural diversity.
• Preferably possesses psychotherapy qualifications, community development experience, and/or public health expertise.
• Must comply with Halton Healthcare's immunization and vaccination policy requirements and provide proof of vaccination or a documented medical exemption.
