This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota, +1 more state.
β’ Act as a resource for healthcare providers to comprehend covered indications and required documentation.
β’ Assist technical and professional services within provider clinics, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and hospital professional services.
β’ Understand and facilitate Medicare and Commercial Carrier workflows related to daily coding, denial reviews, and appeals management.
β’ Prepare necessary supporting documents and information for appeals.
β’ Monitor and ensure accuracy in physician charge capture.
β’ Work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, solve problems, and provide accurate recommendations to medical professionals.
β’ Engage in coding team meetings and act as a subject matter expert.
β’ Review medical documentation while assigning modifiers, diagnostic codes, and procedure codes.
β’ Assess compliance with laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
β’ Deliver precise and timely ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT coding.
β’ Conduct reviews and audits of medical records to support appropriate service reimbursement.
β’ Communicate coding guidelines to physicians and healthcare providers to enhance documentation accuracy.
β’ An Associate degree in Health Information Technology or a Certification in Coding is required.
β’ Required certifications include RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, CCS-H, or COC.
β’ If not certified at the time of hire, the certification must be achieved within one year of employment.
β’ Specific knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology is essential.
β’ Successful completion of coursework from an accredited institution in ICD diagnosis, CPT, HCPCS coding schemes, medical terminology, or human anatomy/physiology is preferred.
β’ Proficient computer skills are necessary.
β’ Ability to interpret, analyze, and abstract data and documentation is required.
β’ Strong problem-solving abilities are needed.
