This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Act as the technical liaison between our sales team and potential clients, leveraging extensive Databricks knowledge alongside robust business insight to craft persuasive data and AI solutions.
• Manage the technical aspects of the sales process — from initial discovery and architecture planning to solution showcases and proof-of-concept (POC) execution.
• Conduct technical discovery workshops to grasp customer business goals, data challenges, and existing architecture.
• Create and present scalable Databricks-based solution architectures customized to client environments and business objectives.
• Develop and deliver engaging demos, prototypes, and proofs-of-concept that highlight the capabilities of the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.
• Collaborate closely with Account Executives throughout the sales process to formulate effective technical strategies.
• Address RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires with precise, clear, and persuasive technical content.
• Simplify intricate technical concepts into business value for both technical stakeholders and executive audiences.
• Design scalable data architectures on Databricks, encompassing Lakehouse, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog patterns.
• Guide clients on best practices for data pipelines, data modeling, and platform governance.
• Provide advice on integrating Databricks with hyperscaler environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related data tools.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the sales cycle to ensure success for delivery teams.
• Showcase Databricks capabilities for Data Science, ML, and Generative AI applications.
• Work alongside Data Scientists and ML Engineers to create AI-driven demo assets and reference architectures.
• Keep up to date with Databricks platform updates, including Mosaic AI, MLflow, and Feature Store.
• Act as the in-house Databricks expert within BIG — sharing insights and empowering the wider team.
• Contribute reusable demo assets, accelerators, and technical playbooks.
• Represent BIG at customer events, webinars, and Databricks partner initiatives.
• Provide field input to Databricks product and partner teams to shape the product roadmap.
• Willingness to travel approximately 40% for customer meetings and partner collaboration.
• 5+ years of experience in a pre-sales, sales engineering, or technical consulting role with a focus on customer interaction.
• 3+ years of practical experience with Databricks in a technical role.
• At least one Databricks Professional-level certification (e.g., Data Engineer Professional, Machine Learning Professional).
• Strong expertise in at least one primary data domain: big data engineering (Spark, Kafka), Data Warehousing & ETL, or Data Science & ML.
• Proficiency in SQL and competence in Python, Scala, Java, or R.
• Demonstrated ability to convert business needs into technical solutions and achieve stakeholder agreement at all levels.
• Experience in designing, presenting, and implementing production data architectures for enterprise clients.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — capable of making complex subjects accessible and engaging.
