PowerBuilder Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications utilizing PowerBuilder.

• Implement new product features and troubleshoot defects while upholding high coding standards.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in accordance with software engineering best practices.

• Integrate unit testing into the development process to guarantee software quality and reliability.

• Create scalable and maintainable solutions by applying object-oriented principles and design patterns.

• Suggest technical and architectural solutions for new product features.

• Engage in technical design discussions and document software architecture.

• Ensure solutions are in alignment with the overall technology strategy and business objectives.

• Conduct root cause analysis for intricate technical issues and propose long-term enhancements.

• Act as a technical resource for development teams, assisting in resolving complex technical challenges.

• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation sessions, and Agile ceremonies.

• Provide effort estimates and technical insights for future product enhancements.

• Communicate technical risks, dependencies, and scope changes to stakeholders.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software on schedule.

• Oversee source control, builds, packaging, and deployment processes.

• Utilize Azure DevOps, Git, and modern source control systems throughout the development lifecycle.

• Foster continuous improvement in development practices, code quality, and delivery processes.

• Work closely with QA teams by supplying risk assessments and supporting testing activities.

• Create clear technical documentation, implementation designs, and architectural diagrams.

• Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, UX, and Business teams throughout the development lifecycle.

• Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture centered on continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.

• Extensive experience in developing enterprise applications with **PowerBuilder**.

• Strong proficiency in **C#, C++, or another object-oriented programming language**.

• Experience with **SQL Server** (Sybase experience is advantageous).

• Background in building and maintaining desktop applications.

• Familiarity with cloud-based solutions.

• Experience in Agile, Scrum, Lean, or Kanban development environments.

• Proficient with **Azure DevOps**, **Git**, or modern source control systems.

• Solid understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, and design patterns.

• Experience with the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which includes:

• - Unit testing

• - Code reviews

• - Version control

• - Build processes

• - Deployment

• - Continuous Integration

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Capability to work independently while collaborating effectively within distributed teams.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with Sybase databases.

• Experience in designing desktop and cloud hybrid solutions.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

• Experience in mentoring developers or acting as a technical lead.

• Experience in creating technical architecture documentation and design specifications.

• Experience in working within enterprise software or highly regulated industries.

• Knowledge of software packaging and deployment automation.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
