This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of integrated microgrid systems within LV/MV networks.
• Serve as the on-site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for power electronics, including inverters, converters, transformers, and protection/control systems.
• Facilitate system integration across photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), electric vehicle (EV) charging, and grid interfaces to ensure seamless interoperability.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and safety training to engineers and field technicians.
• Participate in the continuous enhancement of product design, commissioning, and service processes.
• Remain up-to-date with grid codes, standards, and advancements in renewable energy and power electronics technologies.
• Commission and validate MV/LV infrastructure, which includes switchgear, relays, and grid interconnections.
• Conduct Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), performance validation, and ensure adherence to grid standards such as G99.
• Carry out advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis on electrical and control systems.
• Configure and optimize Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and SCADA systems; execute firmware updates and system tuning.
• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on BESS, PV, EV, and LV/MV equipment.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, permits, and all regulatory and company requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with over 2 years of experience as a BESS technician.
• Practical experience with microgrids, BESS, solar photovoltaic, and electric vehicle charging systems.
• In-depth understanding of LV/MV electrical systems, protection schemes, and power electronics.
• Demonstrated experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and field service within complex energy environments.
• Expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance of BESS equipment.
• Competent in interpreting electrical schematics, protection studies, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with SCADA, EMS, BMS, and data acquisition/monitoring systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in mechanical and electrical diagnostics.
• Self-driven, adaptable, and effective in dynamic field settings with minimal oversight.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of collaborating with clients, vendors, and teams.
• Solid comprehension of renewable energy systems, particularly energy storage technologies.
• NFPA 70E certification is preferred; proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
