This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore, +4 more countries.
• Assist the Head of South East Asia and C-suite in developing compliance market pathways and country sequencing.
• Create and sustain regulatory dossiers for targeted countries, which include regulatory landscapes, Article 6 architecture, LoA requirements, timelines to first compliance revenue, and addressable market size.
• Identify decision-makers within host governments and facilitate the approval process for Letter of Authorization applications.
• Ensure that LoA applications are in line with national NDCs, sustainable development criteria, corresponding adjustment approaches, and environmental integrity obligations.
• Collaborate with national and ministerial stakeholders alongside country heads to address policy challenges.
• Engage and manage local partners, in-country experts, and senior advisors as necessary.
• Represent Mitti at Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific policy discussions, ministerial roundtables, COP, and SB sessions.
• Forge partnerships with IRRI, ADB, the World Bank, JICA, national rice research institutes, NGOs, and agricultural carbon developers.
• Assist in compliance access through CORSIA, Singapore's international carbon credit framework, bilateral Implementation Agreements, Japan's JCM, and GX-ETS.
• Participate in compliance demand conferences and coordinate meetings with buyers and intermediaries.
• Monitor and predict regulatory, Article 6, and methodology advancements throughout the region.
• Collaborate with science and operations teams to ensure dMRV and ground operations are up to date.
• Provide guidance to the commercial team on pricing and contracting impacts and advocate for beneficial regulatory language where commercially advantageous.
• 5 to 7 years of experience in carbon markets, climate policy, international environmental governance, or a closely related discipline, with considerable time spent in South East Asia.
• Strong knowledge of compliance carbon markets pertinent to Asia: CORSIA, Singapore's carbon tax and international carbon credit framework, Japan's JCM and GX-ETS, as well as emerging domestic schemes across SEA.
• Proficient understanding of Article 6 mechanics: 6.2 cooperative approaches, 6.4 (PACM), ITMOs, LoAs, corresponding adjustments, DNA roles, and reporting obligations.
• Clear insight into how LoAs are attained in SEA.
• Proven experience in navigating complex, multi-stakeholder government and policy landscapes across Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, and Japan.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to rapidly grasp new methodologies and translate intricate regulations into strategic insights.
• Capability to demonstrate how project environmental benefits align with a country's NDC and net zero strategy.
• Fluent in English.
• Direct experience in obtaining an LoA or equivalent host-country authorization from a SEA government (highly preferred).
• Established connections within environment ministries, DNAs, agriculture ministries, or national climate bodies in the region (highly preferred).
• Familiarity with agricultural carbon markets and rice methane methodologies, including AWD methodologies under Verra, Isometric, Gold Standard, and the JCM (highly preferred).
• Experience working in an early-stage company or startup environment (highly preferred).
• Working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia, Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai, Khmer, Japanese, or another regional language (highly preferred).
