This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with United’s state, regional, and federal teams to achieve both short-term and long-term policy objectives in critical states across legislative, regulatory, administrative, wholesale market, and regional transmission authority domains.
• Organize events to engage members directly with decision-makers.
• Actively participate in legislative, rulemaking, and administrative activities.
• Cultivate and sustain strong working relationships with coalition partners, allies, media, and essential legislative, regulatory, and administrative personnel.
• Partner with United’s communications team to identify and leverage opportunities to highlight stories related to transmission, which includes drafting press releases, writing blog articles, and engaging in webinars.
• Create and oversee the Transmission Possible newsletter and resource hub.
• Travel as required (up to 25%) to specific states for staff training, advocacy days, meetings with key allies and stakeholders, communications outreach, and industry events. This involves representing United on panels, in meetings, and with media.
• 4 to 6 years of professional experience, with a minimum of two years focused on the clean energy sector.
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Engineering, or Communications) or relevant comparable experience.
• A foundational understanding of utility regulation and the state energy decision-making landscape.
• Ability to think strategically and politically, even in technical settings.
• Experience in coalition participation and engagement with state legislative or regulatory processes.
• An entrepreneurial mindset, adaptable attitude, and capability to function in a remote work environment.
• Proficiency in managing multiple projects in a dynamic setting.
• Exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to comprehend highly technical information and convey it to diverse audiences.
