📋 Description

• The Platform Quality Engineer is a practical engineering position within StarCompliance’s centralized Platform Quality Engineering team, tasked with ensuring quality assurance at the platform level across the enterprise SaaS platform.

• Reporting to the Lead Quality Architect, the Platform Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated quality controls that validate cross-service integration, core enterprise user journeys, and non-functional characteristics of the platform.

• This role primarily focuses on integration and API-level testing within a distributed, cloud-native environment, encompassing asynchronous and event-driven workflows.

• StarCompliance’s enterprise platform is constructed on distributed services and cloud infrastructure, which includes messaging and integration components like Azure Service Bus.

• The Platform Quality Engineer is expected to comprehend how these systems perform under load, during failures, and during recovery, as well as how to test them to ensure reliability, resilience, and performance at scale.

• This position emphasizes validating failure modes, resilience, and recovery behavior across distributed services, diagnosing intricate system failures utilizing logs, telemetry, and test data, and contributing to enterprise performance testing.

• The Platform Quality Engineer collaborates closely with Product Owners and engineering teams to grasp forthcoming platform changes and integrations, ensuring the enterprise platform is validated under realistic functional and load scenarios prior to release.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in quality assurance for platform- or enterprise-scale SaaS applications, emphasizing the validation of integration, non-functional characteristics, and release preparedness across distributed systems.

• Proficient coding skills in one or more of C#, TypeScript, or Python, with the capability to write clean, maintainable, production-quality code.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and maintaining automated tests at the integration and API levels for distributed, cloud-native systems.

• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and testing methodologies, including messaging, asynchronous processing, retries, ordering, and failure management.

• Practical experience in testing event-driven systems using cloud messaging or integration technologies (e.g., Azure Service Bus, Kafka, SNS/SQS, or similar).

• Extensive hands-on experience with performance testing tools and methodologies (e.g., k6, JMeter, Gatling, or similar).

• Experience in designing realistic performance test scenarios and generating representative test data, including load, concurrency, and message-driven workloads.

• Practical experience in integrating functional and performance testing into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred).

• Experience in diagnosing complex system failures using logs, telemetry, and test data.

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools to enhance productivity, test quality, or failure analysis.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to reason about system behavior and failure modes in a distributed environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Relevant certifications in cloud platforms (Azure preferred), performance testing, or quality engineering are advantageous but not mandatory.
