Platform Product Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee product planning, prioritization, and roadmap management for initiatives on the VA.gov platform.

• Collaborate with engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, User Experience (UX), and operations teams to synchronize business priorities with technical execution.

• Foster collaboration across internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and governmental stakeholders.

• Convert strategic objectives into actionable product requirements, user stories, and delivery plans.

• Lead backlog refinement, assist with sprint planning, coordinate releases, and facilitate Agile delivery activities.

• Convey solution delivery requirements, project status, risks, dependencies, contingencies, and escalation paths to stakeholders with varying technical and executive backgrounds.

• Assist with transition planning, knowledge transfer activities, and efforts to ensure operational continuity.

• Recognize operational gaps, risks, future requirements, and opportunities for improvement across platform services and associated systems.

• Monitor and report on product health, milestones, metrics, and delivery progress to leadership.

• Organize stakeholder meetings, working sessions, demonstrations, executive briefings, and decision-making forums.

• Ensure compliance with accessibility, cybersecurity, governance, and platform standards.

• Implement Agile best practices to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with external dependencies and evolving priorities.

• Aid in change management, prioritization discussions, and coordination efforts across platform initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• An Associate’s degree along with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least five (5) years of relevant experience in product management, program management, platform operations, or digital service delivery initiatives.

• Additional relevant experience may replace the degree requirement.

• Proven experience in managing relationships with diverse audiences, including technology partners, customers, end users, executive leadership, and vendors.

• One industry-recognized cloud or cybersecurity certification is required (examples include Security+, SSCP, CCSK, or equivalent).

• One industry-recognized project management certification is preferred (PMP, Scrum Master, SAFe, CSPO, or equivalent).

• Experience in supporting large-scale federal IT modernization or digital transformation projects.

• Strong grasp of Agile delivery methodologies, backlog management, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Ability to communicate solution requirements, feedback, timeline considerations, escalation paths, and delivery status effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Excellent verbal communication skills, capable of tailoring messages based on audience, role, rank, and operational context.

• Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly express dependencies, risks, action items, and calls to action in simple terms.

• Proficiency in applying business architecture and systems engineering concepts to identify, manage, and mitigate delivery risks, future requirements, and changes in prioritization.

• Experience in utilizing Agile best practices to manage multiple projects and workstreams with external dependencies.

• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Mural, or similar collaboration and work management platforms.
