This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of platform engineers, overseeing hiring, onboarding, performance management, career growth, and daily prioritization.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and psychological safety.
• Remain actively involved as a player-coach, contributing to architectural decisions, infrastructure-as-code, code reviews, and addressing challenging infrastructure issues.
• Establish engineering patterns and best practices for the team and the wider engineering organization.
• Contribute to the platform roadmap and translate organizational strategies into actionable plans for the team.
• Balance considerations of reliability, cost, security, and developer experience; make decisions on build-vs-buy and tooling; manage team capacity and commitments.
• Guide the deployment and evolution of cloud solutions, with a focus on AWS, Infrastructure as Code, and automation.
• Assess emerging technologies and recommend their adoption when they enhance the platform.
• Facilitate observability, automation, and integration points for AIOps in collaboration with Platform Operations.
• Ensure systems meet the SLIs and SLOs set by Platform Operations; support incident response and engage in blameless post-mortems.
• Collaborate with product, security, Platform Operations, and engineering teams to align platform priorities with business objectives.
• Communicate technical strategies and trade-offs effectively to technical teams and stakeholders.
• Keep the team informed about tools, technologies, and best practices, including AI/ML and AIOps.
• 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, including at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role (platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE), with responsibilities in hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes administration at scale, including ArgoCD, Helm, and cluster lifecycle management.
• Expert-level proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code frameworks; experience in defining reusable IaC patterns and modules, as well as managing CI/CD and GitOps workflows.
• In-depth expertise in AWS (networking, compute, storage, security) and containerization in cloud-native environments.
• Familiarity with observability, developer-platform (IDP) patterns, and security/IAM principles.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts and risks to diverse audiences.
• Must be available for on-call escalation coverage.
