Platform Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Assume technical leadership for the production infrastructure that supports Cintra's SaaS payroll offerings.

• Centralize platform responsibilities that are currently spread across multiple development teams.

• Set uniform standards for infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, security, recovery, and production support.

• Design and sustain dependable cloud infrastructure along with automated deployment methodologies.

• Oversee production monitoring, observability, security, backup, and disaster recovery processes.

• Deliver incident management, root-cause analysis, runbooks, and P1 production support.

• Work alongside development teams as a senior technical authority instead of in a people-management role.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive, hands-on experience in Platform / DevOps engineering at a senior level.

• Strong practical knowledge of AWS.

• Ideally, familiarity with Azure and/or GCP and the capability to manage a multi-cloud environment.

• Proficient in Terraform, including modules, state management, standards, and regulated infrastructure modifications.

• Experience in creating and managing automated deployment pipelines utilizing CircleCI, Azure Pipelines, or similar tools.

• Knowledgeable in cloud networking, including VPC/VNET, routing, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, security groups, and connectivity.

• Operational expertise with SQL Server/Azure SQL, PostgreSQL/Aurora, and/or MySQL regarding availability, security, backup, and recovery.

• Familiarity with Datadog, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Monitoring, or equivalent tools.

• Understanding of SSO, cloud IAM, privileged/JIT access, service accounts, and secrets management.

• Experience with cloud hardening measures, least privilege enforcement, vulnerability remediation, certificates, and secure production access.

• Knowledge of backup strategies, restore testing, failover, RTO/RPO, and disaster-recovery planning.

• Strong skills in incident management, root-cause analysis, runbooks, and P1 production support.

• Beneficial experience with AWS ECS, EC2, S3, CloudFront, Aurora, DynamoDB, and Cognito.

• Beneficial experience with Azure App Services, Azure SQL, and Azure Storage.

• Beneficial experience with GCP App Engine, Cloud SQL, Datastore, and Cloud Storage.

• Beneficial experience with Windows Server, RDP/RDWeb, and mixed Windows/Linux environments.

• Beneficial experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools.

• Beneficial experience with Rollbar and application/infrastructure logging.

• Experience in cloud cost optimization and capacity management.
