This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• You will act as a vital connection between applications, including custom development, COTS, or OSS, and the Navy platform environment, promoting best practices and ensuring effective communication between application and platform teams.
• Assess and compare various approaches to address complex technical challenges; discover innovative solutions.
• Tackle technical issues that span across 2-3 areas of expertise, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of various technological landscapes. Exhibit expert knowledge in 1-2 key technologies such as full-stack application development, CI/CD, GitOps, Kubernetes, Tofu, AWS, Go, or other relevant technologies, contributing to the team's technical prowess.
• Participate in strategic planning to align technological advancements with mission goals.
• Display strong programming abilities and a thorough understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Implement infrastructure as code and assist in the development and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters across different distributions (e.g., EKS & RKE2).
• Utilize extensive experience in deploying cloud-native technologies, focusing on secure coding practices and addressing vulnerabilities.
• Foster relationships with external teams and collaborate with other platform teams.
• Travel Expectations: 4-12 times per year.
• Proficiency in resolving technical issues that encompass multiple areas of expertise.
• In-depth knowledge in 1-2 key technologies, showcasing expertise in fields such as full-stack application development, GitOps, Kubernetes, Tofu, AWS, Go, or other relevant areas.
• Experience with YAML for creating Kubernetes manifests, Kubernetes CRDs, and pipeline configurations.
• Skilled in security automation and knowledgeable about API Security, Container Security, and Cloud Security.
• Proficient in architectural security design, monitoring, and performance instrumentation in a complex enterprise setting.
• Experience with continuous delivery, distributed architectures, systems, everything-as-code, containerization, and cloud services.
• Background in working within a team following an Agile framework in a remote environment. Comfortable leading a team when necessary.
• Adept at identifying and articulating gaps in current processes, enabling us to improve our workflows.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work autonomously.
• Proven history of assessing and selecting the best methods for addressing complex technical challenges.
• Experienced in evaluating and making decisions regarding new products, understanding their potential impact on mission objectives.
• Capability to mentor, develop, and nurture junior engineers through pairing and code reviews.
• Hold a security clearance or be eligible to apply for one.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
• Experience in Department of Defense projects, specifically in working on a production Authority to Operate (ATO'd) system.
• Familiarity with UDS Core, Iron Bank, and/or C-ATO processes.
