Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain production-quality automation utilizing Ansible, Terraform, and Go.

• Enhance and advance core services such as VKE, VLB (HAProxy), VCR (Container Registry), and Inference.

• Dive deep into Kubernetes internals, including the scheduler, kubelet, controllers, and CRDs.

• Design, implement, and refine container runtime integrations like containerd, runc, and OCI.

• Architect improvements for CI/CD and deployment pipelines tailored for large-scale systems.

• Resolve intricate issues related to networking, load balancing, containers, and distributed systems.

• Strengthen platform infrastructure by applying security best practices, including vulnerability scanning, container image signing, admission controllers, and secrets management.

• Actively contribute to Vultr's open-source ecosystem, including projects like terraform provider, crossplane, vultr-cli, and govultr.

• Enhance the overall reliability, observability, and operability of cloud-native services.

• Collaborate with product, platform, and infrastructure teams to ensure effective feature delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure.

• Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes administration and internals, particularly the scheduler, kubelet, and CRDs.

• Proficient in Go and scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation and tooling.

• Comprehensive understanding of container security, including image scanning, runtime isolation, and admission control.

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, specifically Terraform and Ansible, along with CI/CD pipeline design.

• Familiarity with the observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, alerting) and incident response methodologies.

• Exceptional problem-solving capabilities in networking, load balancing, and distributed systems.
