Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, implementation, and management of Marathon’s cloud infrastructure platforms.

• Develop and uphold platform components adhering to established standards and patterns.

• Collaborate closely with senior engineers and engineering teams to deploy Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and self-service functionalities.

• Emphasize execution and ongoing enhancement instead of platform strategy ownership.

• Implement and sustain cloud infrastructure components, primarily within AWS.

• Create and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform.

• Contribute to the development of reusable infrastructure primitives and modules within the shared platform.

• Establish automation and self-service capabilities that minimize manual operational efforts.

• Facilitate the integration of applications and SaaS platforms through approved methodologies.

• Engage in efforts to enhance reliability, recoverability, efficiency, and other fundamental aspects of platform components.

• Adhere to established security, compliance, and cost-management guidelines to ensure platforms fulfill SOC 2, HIPAA, and HITRUST requirements.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to deploy and enhance platform capabilities.

• Contribute to the documentation, runbooks, and operational standards of the platform.

• Assist with platform-related incidents and operational challenges following defined standards and escalation protocols.

• Focus on taking deep ownership of one or two platform domains or components.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.

• 2–4 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or a platform-focused role.

• Practical experience with AWS in production or pre-production settings.

• Proficient in using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform preferred).

• Working knowledge of automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).

• Experience with collaborative development tools (e.g., Git, GitHub).

• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy).
