Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Design and execute cloud-native architectures utilizing AWS.

• Develop and uphold Infrastructure as Code (IaC) through tools like Terraform and TerraGrunt.

• Construct and refine Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS, encompassing networking, storage, and security configurations.

• Establish and oversee CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.

• Create and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch.

• Develop and manage Helm charts for application deployments on Kubernetes.

• Enforce security best practices and compliance measures throughout the platform.

• Automate operational tasks and develop self-service tools for development teams.

• Work alongside development teams to enhance application deployment processes and platform usability.

• Continuously assess and incorporate new technologies to improve the platform's capabilities.

• Enforce and maintain security controls in line with DoW standards like NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIGs, and the DoW Enterprise DevSecOps Reference Design.

• Manage and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure and cloud-based resources.

• Integrate DevSecOps tools and services to facilitate automated pipelines that support customer applications throughout their SDLC.

• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams, contributing to the formulation of DevSecOps strategies and roadmaps.

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the platform, including user manuals, API documentation, and best practices.

• Develop engaging and informative diagrams to represent system architecture and workflows.

• Design and produce instructional materials such as tutorials, videos, and interactive learning resources.

• Develop and conduct training sessions to enable users to effectively leverage the platform.

• Adapt to evolving responsibilities within the role.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience with AWS services and architecture best practices.

• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools, especially Terraform.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS.

• Familiarity with container technologies like Docker and Podman.

• Experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies, particularly GitLab.

• Proficient scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.

• Understanding of networking concepts and their implementation in cloud environments.

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.

• Knowledge of GitOps principles and tools like ArgoCD or Flux.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to troubleshoot complex systems.

• Excellent communication skills and effectiveness in cross-functional team environments.

• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.

• Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio) is beneficial.

• Proficient technical writing skills with the ability to clarify complex concepts.

• Experience in creating technical documentation, visual aids, diagrams, and instructional design.

• A desire to work in a collaborative “badgeless” team environment alongside Government clients, contractors, and stakeholders.

• An active Secret Clearance is required.

• A B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
