This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of all CI/CD release pipeline YAML files across GitHub and Azure DevOps (ADO), ensuring that pipelines are well-structured, version-controlled, and thoroughly documented.

• Create, develop, and enhance automated deployment pipelines for non-production and production environments, catering to multiple customer setups.

• Oversee pipeline branching strategies, approval gates, environment-specific variable groups, and deployment conditions in accordance with Change Management (CAB) protocols.

• Continually enhance pipeline reliability, execution speed, and error handling to mitigate deployment risks and boost release frequency.

• Uphold pipeline-as-code standards by ensuring all pipeline definitions are peer-reviewed and stored in source control alongside application code.

• Coordinate and execute deployments across all hosted environments—development, test, staging, and production—with an emphasis on consistency, repeatability, and minimal customer disruption.

• Manage environment-specific configuration files and secrets, ensuring a clear separation of configuration from code and secure handling of sensitive information.

• Apply blue/green, rolling, or canary deployment strategies as necessary to minimize downtime and deployment risks.

• Collaborate with DBA, IT, and application teams to synchronize deployment windows with maintenance schedules and change management requirements.

• Keep deployment runbooks, rollback procedures, and post-deployment validation checklists up to date for all hosted environments.

• Administer Azure DevOps organizations, projects, pipelines, service connections, agent pools, and variable groups.

• Set and enforce Git workflow standards (branching strategies, pull request policies, merge requirements) throughout the hosting operations team.

• Integrate GitHub and ADO with downstream tools and services, including Azure cloud services, monitoring platforms, and notification channels.

• Ensure pipeline and repository security by managing secrets and credentials via Azure Key Vault or similar secret management tools.

• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for automated configuration management across hosted Linux and Windows environments.

• Utilize Ansible to enforce baseline configurations, manage software installations, apply patches, and ensure environment consistency across all hosted nodes.

• Incorporate Ansible automation into CI/CD pipelines to facilitate fully automated end-to-end deployment and configuration workflows.

• Maintain a well-organized Ansible inventory structure and variable hierarchy that supports multiple environments and customer configurations.

• Design and implement proactive monitoring solutions for hosted environments using both internal and 3rd-party tools, alongside alerting frameworks.

• Create and maintain dashboards that provide real-time insights into environment health, pipeline execution status, deployment success metrics, and infrastructure performance.

• Set alerting thresholds and escalation protocols to identify and address issues before they impact customers, integrating alerts with Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, or similar notification channels.

• Implement log aggregation and centralized log management to assist with troubleshooting, incident response, and compliance reporting.

• Provision and manage Azure resources (VMs, VNets, NSGs, Storage Accounts, Key Vaults, App Services) that support the hosted platform, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Bicep or Terraform.

• Aid in cloud cost management by identifying over-provisioned resources, providing rightsizing recommendations, and managing resource lifecycles through pipelines.

• Engage in Azure Landing Zone design and implementation, ensuring that hosted environments adhere to organizational standards for security, networking, and governance.

• Collaborate closely with infrastructure and security teams to enforce Azure policies, configure RBAC, and maintain compliance posture.

• Work in tandem with Engineering, DBA, IT, and customer success teams to align release schedules, coordinate change management, and resolve deployment challenges.

• Maintain internal documentation in Confluence regarding pipeline architecture, deployment procedures, configuration standards, and monitoring runbooks.

• Participate in on-call rotation to assist with production deployment incidents and address environment availability issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Release Engineering role within an enterprise or managed services environment.

• Practical experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (ADO), including YAML pipeline authoring.

• Strong expertise with GitHub, including repository administration, branch protection, and PR workflows.

• Demonstrated experience with Ansible for configuration management, encompassing playbook development, role design, and inventory management.

• Background managing deployments across multi-environment hosted platforms (development, testing, staging, production).

• Solid understanding of Azure Cloud services—compute, networking, storage, identity, and monitoring.

• Experience implementing proactive monitoring utilizing Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.

• Proficient in scripting languages: Bash/Shell, PowerShell, and/or Python for automation and pipeline support activities.

• Experience overseeing environment configuration files and pipeline variable groups while ensuring secure secrets management.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document technical processes clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
