Physician Office Coding Educator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of all corporate coding education, training policies, procedures, and reference materials.

• Facilitates training sessions and evaluates coder understanding of the materials presented.

• Provides recommendations for the enhancement of coding resources and the formulation of policies and procedures.

• Supports corporate coding leadership in training and/or creating a performance improvement pathway for coding colleagues involved in the corrective action process concerning quality or productivity issues.

• Collaborates with Coding Auditors to create educational materials derived from audit findings.

• Establishes and sustains a consistent orientation program for coding operations and reports on coders' progress to coding leadership during the orientation and training phases.

• Functions as a nosologist, analyzing and interpreting disease and procedure classifications and terminologies for the precise translation of healthcare data.

• Utilizes broad guidelines to address specific coding scenarios, exercising discretion and a high level of analytical skill independently.

• Maintains expert proficiency in Franciscan Alliance coding software tools.

• Aids in the development and upkeep of the software system workflow to ensure standardization and maximum efficiency.

• Manages system testing concerning any released software updates or changes in software functionality.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of coding experience at Franciscan - Required

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management - Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management - Preferred

• 5 years of Franciscan outpatient coding experience with CCS, CCS-P, CPC - Required

• 3 years of outpatient coding experience with RHIT/RHIA – Required

• 3 years of experience as a Coding Manager or Trainer/Auditor – Preferred

• Experience in Surgery Coding - Required

• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - Required

• Attention to detail – Required
