This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accountable for reviewing clinical documentation and accurately assigning CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes and modifiers for orthopedic procedures, services, and diagnoses.
• Guarantees correct billing and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Collaborates with orthopedic providers to clarify documentation and ensure coding is complete and accurate.
• Audits and verifies codes for precision prior to claim submission to minimize denials and enhance revenue cycle performance.
• Monitors and stays updated on modifications to coding guidelines and payer regulations.
• Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential from AAPC or an equivalent coding certification (such as CCS, COC).
• At least 2 years of medical coding experience, with a preference for a minimum of 1 year in orthopedic coding.
• High school diploma or GED is required; an associate degree in health information management or a related field is preferred.
• Proficient in coding software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong comprehension of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and orthopedic surgical procedures.
• Competent Microsoft Office skills.
