This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee and actively expand a portfolio of high-net-worth donors, ensuring strong retention and increased annual and lifetime contributions.
• Identify, cultivate, and secure new major donors through strategic research, outreach, and personalized cultivation plans, collaborating with marketing and communication, patient engagement, and research teams.
• Conduct research and respectfully inquire to determine a donor's affinity and connection to myeloid malignancies.
• Work closely with the leadership team, marketing, operations, and Board of Directors to secure impactful contributions.
• Maintain a comprehensive major-donor forecast and pipeline, ensuring accuracy, strategic clarity, and consistent board-ready reporting on a quarterly and yearly basis.
• Develop data-driven strategies to prioritize prospects, strengthen engagement, segment donors by affinity, and forecast revenue.
• Serve as the internal analytics expert, using data to guide outreach strategy, anticipate donor behavior, and identify growth opportunities.
• Foster personal relationships with mid-level donors, engaging them based on their journey and connection to MPNs.
• Act as the Salesforce specialist for the philanthropy function; creating dashboards, optimizing workflows, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring accurate reporting.
• Utilize wealth-screening platforms and prospect-research tools to identify, segment, and assess donor capacity and affinity.
• Lead the development and continuous enhancement of systems, processes, and analytic tools to boost fundraising efficiency.
• Create tailored cultivation and stewardship plans for top donors and prospects, effectively managing mid-level donors while advancing top prospects and high-level donors in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Scientific Officer, and Board of Directors.
• Coordinate with team members to ensure meaningful, timely, and coordinated engagement with donors.
• Advocate for increased philanthropic investment in the organization’s mission by immersing and effectively communicating the organization’s past impact and promising future programs, driving donors toward higher levels of impact.
• Develop strategies to convert grassroots and mid-level donors into long-term major donors.
• Monitor campaign performance and identify opportunities to elevate contributions and deepen engagement.
• Cultivate and manage relationships with donors interested in legacy and planned giving.
• Collaborate with legal and financial advisors to educate, structure, and secure commitments for planned gifts.
• Integrate discussions of planned giving into broader major donor strategies at all stages of the donor journey.
• Employ donor-management, analytics, and wealth-screening tools to document and track donor profiles, giving histories, and engagement patterns related to their affinities and interests in healthcare, rare diseases, cancers, and the life sciences.
• Utilize propensity-to-give data to optimize outreach, qualify prospects, and prioritize and segment portfolios.
• Analyze trends to uncover opportunities for stewardship, upgrades, and new donor acquisitions.
• Outline and implement processes that include documentation expectations memorialized with the creation of necessary standard operating procedures.
• Foster philanthropic leadership among Board members, encouraging meaningful participation in giving and fundraising.
• Leverage Board connections to identify, introduce, and cultivate new major donor prospects.
• Serve as a thought leader on rare disease and/or oncology-related philanthropy, guiding staff and Board leadership on trends, strategy, and best practices for medical research organizations, sourcing from various industries and applying relevant strategies to the MPN Research Foundation.
• Stay updated on advancements in cancer research and related technologies to inform donor messaging and case-for-support development.
• Experience in the rare disease and/or oncology sectors is highly desirable.
• A strong interest and ability to learn about MPNs, medical research and drug development, as well as the disease landscape and global ecosystem are essential.
• A proven history in philanthropy and major donor engagement within the non-profit sector or strong sales acumen in life sciences, healthcare, or the biopharmaceutical industry is required.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage and inspire stakeholders by meeting them where they are and understanding their journey with MPNs.
• Technical proficiency in relevant research methodologies and development tools is necessary.
• Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to leverage data to inform fundraising strategies.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, focusing on driving impact.
• Experience in developing and implementing systems and processes to enhance fundraising efficiency.
• Preference for candidates based in Chicago, with occasional in-office work, though not mandatory.
• Willingness to travel once a quarter is required.
• Ability to work cross-functionally, setting aside personal agendas, in a dynamic, fast-paced, startup-like environment.
• Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in unstructured or ambiguous situations.

• A driven individual committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those affected by MPNs.
• Familiarity with marketing principles and strategies is a plus.
