This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Receives training in personal financial counseling services and responsibilities while working towards obtaining the necessary certification as a Personal Financial Counselor (PFC).
• Accountable for delivering education, information, and support to members, providers, and other internal and external clients.
• Gathers knowledge on how to offer personal financial counseling and management services for service members and their families.
• Acquires skills to assist service members in creating a spending plan for extended absences.
• Gains understanding in coordinating, promoting, and delivering a diverse range of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops (e.g., topics relevant to the military lifecycle, including, but not limited to, initial duty station arrival, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34).
• Learns to effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication such as web-based platforms, secure online chat, video-based communications, and secure video teleconferencing as sponsored by the customer.
• Understands how to handle duty-to-warn scenarios in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) protocols.
• Engages with leadership and participates in regular individual and group supervision.
• Involved in regular in-services and training sessions, quality improvement committees, or other contract-related activities as assigned and/or deemed suitable.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree is required.
• Applicants with an associate degree plus 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• Applicants with a high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may also be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and possess fluent English-speaking skills.
• Must be capable of delivering presentations in front of small or large groups.
• If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Should be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation status.
• Must be actively working towards successfully passing and receiving one of the approved Financial Certifications (Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)) for promotion to a PFC Tier 1 position within 3 months of employment.
• Must have accumulated over a thousand hours of financial counseling experience (to be achieved prior to application for the position).
• Must demonstrate and embody the qualities of a model employee with respect to attitude, customer service, company culture, and work ethic.
• Must exhibit ethical conduct and consistently uphold confidentiality.
