Performance Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain performance testing harnesses and load-simulation frameworks from the ground up.

• Construct load, stress, endurance, scalability, and concurrency tests for intricate web applications and backend services.

• Generate realistic multi-user and high-scale scenarios utilizing synthetic traffic and multi-client orchestration.

• Establish performance baselines, service-level objectives (SLOs), regression thresholds, and automated quality gates within CI/CD pipelines.

• Integrate performance testing with analytics and observability platforms to deliver actionable insights.

• Examine metrics, logs, traces, CPU, heap, and memory profiles to pinpoint bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance performance and convert findings into lasting regression coverage.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in building automated test infrastructures or performance and reliability tools for production systems, with a strong preference for TypeScript and Node.js.

• Proficient in designing load, stress, or concurrency testing harnesses from scratch, including synthetic traffic generation, multi-client orchestration, and results analysis.

• Familiarity with sharded or parallelized performance test execution.

• Robust understanding of web performance, encompassing rendering and interaction latency, main-thread and event-loop contention, memory and garbage collection behavior, and utilizing Chrome DevTools or V8 profilers to identify bottlenecks.

• Experience in testing distributed, service-oriented backends, including gRPC microservices, PostgreSQL, and Redis or Valkey caching, with the ability to reason about latency under concurrent load.

• Proficient in using Playwright to facilitate authentic end-to-end user journeys.

• A strong quality-oriented mindset that recognizes flaky and non-reproducible tests as bugs and transforms performance insights into enduring regression coverage.

• Experience in a monorepo environment, preferably with Bazel.

• Practical experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar platforms.

• English proficiency: Upper-intermediate (B2).
