This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Manage the peer-review process for manuscripts, ensuring it is conducted efficiently and maintains high-quality standards throughout the manuscript's journey.
• Evaluate recommended reviewer lists from the Academia.edu database and seek additional qualified candidates outside of the platform to invite suitable reviewers.
• Review collected peer review reports and guide manuscripts through further editorial decisions and author revisions.
• Collaborate with authors to ensure timely collection of all pertinent information and that manuscripts are revised to meet the satisfaction of reviewers and editors.
• Work together with the Publishing Managers of assigned journals to avoid delays and issues that may affect reputation or compliance with ethical standards.
• Partner with the production service provider to guarantee that manuscripts are prepared in accordance with internal guidelines and industry standards, and published promptly after final acceptance.
• Operate independently and under tight deadlines to ensure published papers meet the high presentation standards expected by authors, editors, and indexing databases.
• Bachelor’s degree in a natural or technical science discipline and adequate proven experience in processing papers for journals within the natural or technical sciences.
• A Master’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Over 2 years of experience managing daily peer-review operations for a scientific journal in a similar capacity at an academic publishing firm or within the publishing department of a scientific society/association.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and show initiative.
• Experience in efficiently managing the logistics of a large volume of manuscript publications.
• Familiarity with HTML, PDF, LaTex, and XML formats is required.
• Proficient in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Capability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
