Payroll Systems Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Map out payroll operations across various markets, including inputs, calendars, cut-offs, approvals, handoffs, and providers.

• Align global payroll standards, system controls, and RACIs while ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements.

• Establish processes for receiving, tracking, and resolving payroll requests, modifications, and issues.

• Train Payroll team members on new processes and tools and provide support for systems-related inquiries.

• Take ownership of the design and implementation of an internal payroll-to-finance reconciliation tool, from requirements gathering to rollout.

• Define reconciliation logic that encompasses headcount, gross-to-net, employer costs, accruals, cost centers, entities, FX, and variance thresholds.

• Automate data ingestion from payroll provider reports and HRIS extracts, and create exception reporting.

• Continuously iterate on and document the reconciliation tool post-launch.

• Stabilize HRIS-to-payroll data flows following the new HRIS go-live.

• Analyze payroll workflows and integrations, providing recommendations for enhancements.

• Support changes, consolidations, integrations, and launches of payroll providers in new markets.

• Coordinate the testing of legislative and system updates.

• Take responsibility for payroll data quality and conduct regular audits.

• Create payroll reports and dashboards for HR, Finance, and informed business decisions.

• Manage data privacy and access controls for sensitive pay and banking information in accordance with GDPR and relevant regulations.

• Report to the HR Systems Lead within the HR Technology team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in both English and French.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• Over 3 years of experience in HRIS, payroll operations, payroll systems, or payroll accounting, preferably within a multi-country or multi-entity organization.

• Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end payroll processes, including inputs, calendars and cut-offs, gross-to-net calculations, statutory deductions, and payment processes.

• Practical experience reconciling payroll to the general ledger, including aspects such as employer costs, accruals, and the mapping of cost centers and entities.

• Experience working with third-party or in-country payroll providers, as well as managing data flows between HRIS, payroll, and finance systems.

• Proven track record in documenting, standardizing, and enhancing processes, including controls, checklists, sign-off flows, and RACIs.

• Advanced expertise in data management, analysis, and reporting.

• Experience in building tools or automation solutions, such as scripts, Apps Script, or low-code platforms like Workato or Zapier, or a strong desire to learn.

• Familiarity with Business Intelligence systems, such as Sigma, Power BI, or Looker.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with Payroll, HR, and Finance stakeholders and convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
