
Payroll Specialist Lead – Japan

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Serve as a genuine subject matter expert for the country.
• Maintain current relationships with key stakeholders in Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineering.
• Oversee the complete in-house payroll process, including statutory filing obligations, handling exceptions, approvals, payments, and ensuring compliance.
• Guarantee comprehensive data integrity and quality.
• Conduct accounting and reconciliations.
• Concentrate on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Develop and enhance processes.
• Guide and support payroll specialists.
• Provide backup for regional managers during their absence.
• Experience in payroll management or a related field.
• Familiarity with payroll best practices.
• Skilled in utilizing software tools such as SAP, Excel, and Google Sheets.
• Possess an analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, international work setting with a desire to make a meaningful impact.
• A productivity enthusiast who consistently seeks ways to enhance and expedite work processes.
• Understand the importance and ideal of largely asynchronous work.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English.
• Experience in remote work is not mandatory but is an advantage.
