This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Taiwan.
• Ensure that payroll is executed accurately, punctually, and in accordance with country-specific regulations and statutory requirements.
• Take ownership of the complete payroll process for designated jurisdictions, which includes validating payroll inputs, performing payroll calculations, and managing post-payroll activities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the payroll requirements of various countries, remaining informed about legislative, tax, and regulatory changes that could affect payroll operations.
• Assist in the operational implementation and deployment of payroll services in new or expanding jurisdictions, ensuring that payroll processes are seamlessly integrated into operational workflows.
• Act as a primary liaison for both internal teams and external stakeholders regarding country payroll issues.
• Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies, operational risks, or compliance challenges, using sound judgment when escalating complex situations.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of payroll operational processes by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance operational transparency.
• Aid in the development and maintenance of payroll documentation and operational knowledge to ensure that processes are clear, scalable, and in line with internal governance standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate system improvements, statutory updates, and operational advancements affecting payroll.
• Support the integration of automation and AI-enabled tools designed to enhance payroll operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Engage in testing activities related to payroll system developments, enhancements, and process improvements to ensure operational readiness.
• Possesses substantial mid-senior level experience in Pakistani payroll operations, including direct responsibility for end-to-end payroll processing in Pakistan.
• Has managed payroll functions in multi-country settings or global organizations, with familiarity with various payroll systems and local regulatory frameworks.
• Exhibits a strong understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and compliance obligations.
• Comfortable collaborating with internal and external stakeholders within Remote’s payroll ecosystem and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
• Analytical and detail-oriented, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage intricate payroll scenarios.
• Effective written and verbal communicator, adept at working in asynchronous and globally distributed environments.
• Takes initiative in outcomes, identifies risks early, and approaches operational challenges with curiosity and accountability.
• Thrives in fast-paced, scrappy start-up environments.
• Proficient in payroll tools and capable of data analysis using both in-house and external platforms.
• Experience in remote or globally distributed teams is an advantage.
• Demonstrates strong proficiency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
