This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.
• The Payroll Specialist is tasked with processing and rectifying payroll transactions for designated countries, typically those that are larger and more complex.
• Assist in pre-payroll activities, including time and absence management processes.
• Examine and confirm files generated internally for the monthly payroll cycle.
• Ensure adherence to critical payroll deadlines.
• Address inquiries from employees, managers, and HR, as well as support year-end payroll activities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the Payroll Vendor to manage payroll processing and rectify erroneous payroll transactions.
• Assess and validate payroll files (such as the Payroll Reconciliation File and Bank File) along with reports generated internally or by the GPV, granting approval for processing.
• Oversee pre-payroll activities, including finalizing data entry, evaluating the quality of the master data file, and confirming the completeness of time/payroll data.
• Resolve input errors and other discrepancies from third-party vendors or internal AbbVie stakeholders.
• Manage Year-End Payroll processing tasks, such as developing and providing the payroll calendar, reviewing year-end tax reports, and informing AbbVie employees about the availability of tax information.
• A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on Finance or Accounting.
• 4-5 years of operational payroll experience, specifically in Belgian payroll.
• Familiarity with Belgian payroll practices, time and absence management, and profit-sharing general rules.
• Capability to apply this knowledge in practical, everyday situations.
• Proficient in Workday and experienced in integrating with third-party applications.
• Strong customer service orientation and a work ethic driven by a commitment to exceed expectations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while achieving results through collaboration with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Solid analytical and process diagnostic skills, with the ability to focus on details while also understanding the overall context. Proficient in spreadsheets and databases, with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in French.
• Ideally, some hands-on experience with projects related to payroll implementations.
