
Payroll Operations Manager – 12 month FTC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• Take ownership of and enhance global payroll operations processes by identifying inefficiencies and driving standardization across various entities, providers, and workflows.
• Create, develop, and test robust payroll processes that are efficient, repeatable, and prepared for audits.
• Implement practical automation and workflow enhancements to minimize manual tasks and improve accuracy (e.g., process refinements, system configurations, and better utilization of existing tools).
• Collaborate closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure effective payroll delivery while allowing them to concentrate on strategic leadership and governance.
• Establish and maintain operational frameworks including documentation, controls, calendars, SLAs, and performance metrics.
• Assist with payroll-related transformation projects, such as M&A integrations, new country launches, and vendor/process enhancements.
• Enhance payroll data quality, reporting, and visibility across Finance, Legal, and People teams to facilitate improved decision-making.
• Extensive experience in process development, optimization, and enhancement, with the capability to design and test robust, scalable payroll workflows.
• Familiarity with payroll operations in a multi-entity or international context, with exposure extending beyond mere payroll execution.
• Experience with UK and US payroll is highly advantageous, including knowledge of compliance, statutory obligations, and operational intricacies.
• Proficient in working with our existing systems and platforms such as Workday, ADP, Deel, Payassist, etc.
• Proven ability to utilize AI and automation tools to improve workflows, automate processes, and analyze payroll data.
• Strong capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, balancing business-as-usual support with operational enhancement initiatives.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, coupled with a proactive, service-oriented approach and a focus on identifying root causes and developing sustainable solutions.
• Confident communicator with Finance, Legal, People teams, and external partners.
