This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for designated Central American countries, taking full ownership of payroll operations.
• Execute comprehensive in-house payroll processes, which encompass data collection, validation, calculations, approvals, payments, and adherence to statutory requirements.
• Oversee statutory filings, tax responsibilities, and social security obligations across the assigned regions.
• Maintain data accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery in alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Manage payroll accounting, reconciliations, and assist with financial reporting needs.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Support) to ensure seamless operations and alignment.
• Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives for standardization and automation.
• Address payroll exceptions, escalations, and complex issues with a solutions-oriented approach.
• Provide support and mentorship to fellow payroll specialists, fostering team development and knowledge sharing.
• Several years of experience in LATAM payroll, particularly with a strong focus on Central America.
• Proven capability to independently manage end-to-end payroll processes.
• In-depth knowledge of compliance, statutory filings, and local labor laws.
• Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment while juggling multiple priorities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Product, or Implementation teams.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes in Central America, especially in countries like Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.
• Solid grasp of local tax regulations, social security, and statutory compliance.
• Experience in managing in-house end-to-end payroll processing.
• Knowledge of payroll accounting and reconciliations.
• Familiarity with payroll systems and tools; experience in automation or process enhancements is an advantage.
• Proficient in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
• Previous experience with in-house payroll operations is highly desirable.
• Experience working remotely is an asset, but not mandatory.
