This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Take ownership of the monthly payroll process for Via Germany, collaborating closely with our external payroll provider and the internal Finance, People, and Operations teams to guarantee timely and accurate payroll execution.
• Stay informed about and interpret German tax regulations, wage laws, and compliance requirements to ensure payroll processes are in line with changing regulatory standards.
• Conduct regular payroll audits to uphold the accuracy and integrity of employee pay data, while also designing and implementing process enhancements and internal controls.
• Oversee benefit deductions and tax withholdings, ensuring that calculations and reporting are precise, compliant, and handled with the utmost confidentiality.
• Lead financial reporting related to payroll, which includes preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
• Assist with escalated employee payroll inquiries that cannot be resolved by the Support Operations team independently.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and operational enhancements that bolster payroll processes and support the broader Finance team.
• A minimum of 5 years of payroll experience in Germany, with a solid understanding of local payroll regulations and tax obligations.
• Proficient in working with HRIS and payroll systems such as P&I Loga, and highly skilled in Microsoft Excel.
• Meticulous and highly accurate, capable of managing payroll tasks independently while adhering to strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues across Finance, People, and other internal teams.
• Process-oriented and proactive, with a strong desire to enhance workflows and implement innovative solutions.
• Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of German is a plus.

• Competitive salary range: €70,000-€90,000 per year, plus equity. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
