This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +11 more states.
• Engage with patients through clinic chats, phone calls, text messaging, and email to discuss outstanding balances, promoting and arranging personalized payment plans.
• Inform patients about their financial responsibilities, billing processes, payment options, and available payment plans.
• Collaborate with medical assistants to address patient inquiries and needs related to collections.
• Negotiate payment arrangements while demonstrating empathy and maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Review, maintain, and manage patient alerts and accounts to ensure chart information is current and that charges, payments, adjustments, and balances are accurate.
• Create and examine patient statements and billing correspondence.
• Address billing inquiries and concerns with clarity and compassion.
• De-escalate challenging situations while upholding a professional and respectful tone.
• Identify billing discrepancies and initiate necessary corrections.
• Accurately and promptly post payments and refunds.
• Maintain precise documentation of patient interactions and account activities.
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, the Privacy Act, and 42 CFR Part 2.
• Achieve productivity, quality, and customer service benchmarks.
• Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• An Associate's Degree or 1–3 years of experience in medical billing, patient collections, or the healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical billing processes, insurance terminology, and patient financial responsibility is essential.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are necessary.
• Capability to manage sensitive financial discussions with empathy and professionalism, as well as to promptly de-escalate situations.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and billing software is required.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and various commercial insurance plans is advantageous.
• Experience with personal computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to multitask across internet browsers and electronic spreadsheets is expected.
• Availability to work Monday–Thursday from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM PST and Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM PST.
