Part-Time Freelance Editor, Breaking/Trending News

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Editors and Senior Editors to spearhead editorial coverage for FoxNews.com and foxbusiness.com.

• Delegate breaking, trending, and original stories to a team of writers, both on-site and remotely.

• Edit a continuous influx of story submissions for grammar, style, and content quality.

• Craft SEO-optimized headlines to enhance search visibility.

• Ensure each article incorporates the most engaging videos and images.

• Act swiftly in breaking news scenarios to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Dispatch app and email alerts to a broad audience.

• Leverage real-time analytics to inform editorial choices and boost audience interaction.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in a fast-paced breaking news environment, ideally with a news organization that covers a diverse array of local, national, and international stories.

• Previous management experience is essential.

• Familiarity with content management systems is required.

• In-depth knowledge of AP style and current events, particularly in politics.

• Ability to perform under tight deadlines.

• Proven organizational skills to maintain editorial standards, address demands across company platforms, and ensure a smooth transition to the next shift.

• Experience in integrating AI tools into editorial processes to improve speed, efficiency, and decision-making, while maintaining strong editorial judgment and oversight.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
