Part Time Facility Coder, Outpatient, ED, Clinic, Ancillary

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze medical records to pinpoint relevant diagnoses and procedures concerning the patient's healthcare encounter.

• Assign Evaluation & Management (E/M) levels for both emergency room facility and professional encounters.

• Allocate principal and secondary CPT codes along with corresponding charges for emergency room procedures and injections/infusions.

• Apply appropriate CPT modifiers in accordance with hospital, payer, or state guidelines.

• Extract necessary information from medical records based on client specifications.

• Request physician clarification for any unclear or contradictory documentation.

• Engage in Coding Roundtables by sharing materials, articles, and current topics in coding and Health Information Management.

• Keep updated on Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.

• Exhibit strong and professional communication skills.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPC and COC coding credentials are mandatory.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in coding Facility-HB outpatient charts in Ancillary, Clinic, and ED settings.

• Experience in coding Ancillary: ICD and CPT; Clinic: ICD, CPT, and E/Ms; ED: ICD, CPT, E/Ms, and injections/infusions.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficient understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.

• Comprehensive knowledge of CPT coding principles and guidelines.

• Familiarity with reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies related to documentation, coding, and billing.

• A passing score on the coding proficiency test is required.
