OBGYN Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for patient healthcare encounters.

• Extract necessary information from medical records in accordance with client guidelines.

• Inquire with physicians to clarify any ambiguous or conflicting documentation.

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 data sets.

• Code professional fees and facility OBGYN clinic and surgical encounters, including both office and surgical services.

• Provide mentorship and training to new coders and/or hires through educational initiatives.

• Stay updated on Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.

• Participate in coding education and engage in industry forums as appropriate.

• Maintain effective and professional communication, contributing to a positive image of the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Mandatory certification: CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in professional fee and facility coding.

• Proficient coding skills in professional fee/facility OBGYN clinic and surgical services, covering both office and surgical aspects.

• Expected productivity of 10 records coded per hour.

• Capability to code clinic E&M and CPTs.

• Familiarity with EPIC, 3M, and 360 systems.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.

• Extensive understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines.

• Awareness of reimbursement systems along with federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies.

• Must successfully complete a coding proficiency examination.
