Coding Specialist III – Clinical Practice Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Execute coding and associated responsibilities in accordance with established billing office policies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Act as the primary liaison for physicians, departmental administrators, hospital and clinical department heads, support personnel, and billing staff.

• Manage professional service billings for designated clinical departments.

• Aid in the analysis, development, and execution of new professional service lines related to coding, billing, and charge capture.

• Assign or verify CPT and ICD-10-CM codes, along with modifiers, based on documentation.

• Address electronic charge edits and confirm that claim requirements and data elements are accurately applied.

• Function as a coding resource for both single- and multi-specialty services.

• Provide coding coverage for colleagues when they are out of the office.

• Oversee charge flow and collaborate with managers, administrators, clinic personnel, physicians, and billing staff.

• Detect, report, and resolve issues related to coding and reimbursement.

• Identify opportunities to minimize denials and improve revenue.

• Develop and uphold protocols for designated areas.

• Maintain knowledge of Teaching Physician and provider documentation policies.

• Participate in orientations for new providers.

• Recognize and tackle provider documentation trends impacting coding and billing.

• Achieve or surpass established production and performance benchmarks.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma.

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

• Coding certification (CPC or CCS-P) and/or credential in Health Information Management (RHIT or RHIA).

• Advanced understanding of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding.

• Familiarity with payer and governmental policies.

• Knowledge of EMRs and electronic charge processes.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and departmental staff.

• Ability to work independently.

• Proficient computer skills.

• Capacity to meet or exceed designated production rates and performance standards.

• Ability to detect and interpret speech or other forms of communication.

• Occasionally able to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
