This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Examine medical records to pinpoint relevant diagnoses and procedures for patient healthcare encounters.
• Extract necessary information from medical records in accordance with client guidelines.
• Seek physician clarification for any ambiguous or contradictory documentation.
• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 datasets.
• Deliver coding and abstracting services for professional fee medical records across various specialties.
• Mentor and train coders and/or new hires through education and training initiatives.
• Stay updated on Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
• Engage in industry forums as relevant.
• Promote coding education within the team.
• Necessary certification: CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in professional fee and facility coding.
• Strong skills in professional fee/facility OBGYN clinic and surgical coding, including both office and surgical coding.
• Experience in coding clinic E&M and CPTs.
• Coding productivity expectation set at 10 codes per hour.
• Familiarity with EPIC, 3M, and 360 software.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines.
• Awareness of reimbursement systems along with federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies.
• Must successfully complete a coding proficiency test.
