Part-Time Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the monthly closing process to guarantee precise and timely financial statements.

• Supervise revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 / IFRS 15, which includes handling deferred revenue, chargebacks, cancellations, and adjustments from prior periods.

• Oversee the billing operations of ChargeBee and Stripe, ensuring seamless subscription data integration into the general ledger.

• Manage the bookkeeper while supervising bookkeeping tasks, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger activities.

• Ensure audit readiness and collaborate with external tax advisors for annual compliance.

• Develop and document internal controls.

• Create annual budgets and rolling revenue forecasts.

• Perform variance analysis and offer actionable insights.

• Monitor and report on SaaS metrics such as MRR, ARR, churn, LTV, CAC, payback period, and net dollar retention.

• Prepare financial reporting for leadership, including dashboards and narrative commentary.

• Conduct monthly scenario modeling to facilitate investment and cost-related decisions.

• Collaborate with the CEO, VP of Operations, department heads, and the leadership team on financial and operational decisions.

• Assist in quarterly budget reviews, resource allocation, strategic initiatives, and long-term planning.

• Assess financial tools and workflows, automating manual processes, including AI-assisted reconciliation and reporting.

• Develop runbooks and documentation for standardized finance processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, particularly within SaaS or subscription-based businesses.

• Comprehensive controller-level ownership of the monthly closing process, revenue recognition under ASC 606 or IFRS 15, and full financial statement preparation.

• Extensive knowledge of revenue recognition, deferred revenue, subscription billing operations, and the flow of billing data into the general ledger.

• Proficient in using ChargeBee, Stripe, Recurly, or similar subscription billing platforms.

• Skilled in QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite.

• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.

• Experience with consumer or self-service subscription models.

• Background in a startup or high-growth company with revenues under $25M.

• Excellent English communication skills.

• Ability to communicate confidently with stakeholders and leadership who are not finance specialists.

• Capability to excel in a fully remote work environment.

• CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification, along with direct experience with ChargeBee and proficiency with AI tools, are significant advantages.
