Part-time Chaplain

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Acts as a messenger and promoter of faith, mission, and purpose.

• Engages with companies, their staff, and the community in a way that reflects character through personal and spiritual practices.

• Conducts regular visits to company locations (typically weekly) to connect with employees and cultivate trust-based relationships motivated by Christian faith.

• Visits employees or their immediate family members in settings where care can be given and support offered, including hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family homes, or other locations.

• May offer confidential pastoral conversations regarding personal challenges faced by employees and their immediate families, covering issues such as family matters, divorce, serious health concerns, elder care, bereavement, parenting, financial difficulties including debt, budgeting, and other life stressors, alongside any additional personal matters.

• Provides referral services and coordinates specialized support for employees and/or their immediate family members with particular needs.

• May assist with the planning, conduct, or attendance of funerals for employees or their immediate family members, including follow-up support and encouragement for family members during the grieving process.

• May conduct visits to employees and their immediate family members in jail.

• Collaborates with companies to communicate notifications of death and serious injuries to families and other employees, offering encouragement to those affected by various tragedies.

• May provide post-termination support for laid-off or terminated employees to ensure a seamless transition to new job environments.

• May facilitate, though not lead, spiritual enrichment activities, as employee-led initiatives are typically more effective than those led by a chaplain.

• Provides literature and resources, as needed or requested, to assist company employees with life challenges.

• Participates in new employee orientation to clarify the Employee Care Service and the Chaplain Team's role.

• With the permission of the Executive Director of Operations (EDO), positively and assertively responds to additional duties and services requested by the executive leadership of companies, in alignment with the Letter of Agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and the company.

• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team and in an interfaith environment. Capable of accepting diverse lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.

• Proficient in listening and engaging with clients, employees, and their families. Skilled in delivering community presentations and managing interactions with family members and staff in high-pressure situations. Holds a high regard for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families. Capable of handling stressful situations and documenting accurately as per standards.

• Displays spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle, aligning with MCHAP's Ministry values. Integrates Christian values and beliefs into daily activities and job performance. Possesses a basic understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate application. Demonstrates a saving faith in Jesus Christ and actively participates in a biblically based church.

• Proven ability to engage professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy across diverse groups; capable of establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships while delivering exceptional customer service. Able to make administrative and procedural decisions on sensitive, confidential matters.

• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with leadership, colleagues, employees, and families. Maintains emotional stability to manage human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

• Exhibits analytical skills to identify and follow up on problems or objectives. Capable of identifying solutions and resolving issues. Demonstrates skill in interpreting policies and procedures relevant to the position and keeping others informed.

• Competent in using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or equivalent software, as well as internet, email, and web-based applications. Ability to understand and learn new technological programs.

• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and meet state minimum auto insurance requirements (in states where services are provided to clients).
