Outside Property Claim Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Manages first-party property claims of moderate severity and complexity as assigned.

• Conducts field inspections of losses, ensuring accurate assessments of damages, photographs, written estimates, and/or computer-assisted estimates.

• Utilizes innovative technologies on a broad scale.

• Investigates and assesses all pertinent facts to determine coverage, damages, and liability for first-party property damage claims, which includes analyzing leases, contracts, by-laws, and other relevant documents that may influence the outcome, as well as business interruption calculations.

• Obtains recorded or written statements as necessary.

• Establishes timely and accurate claims and expense reserves.

• Determines appropriate settlement amounts based on independent judgment, computer-assisted building and/or contents estimates, actual cash value and replacement value estimations, contractor estimate validations, appraisals, applicable limits and deductibles, and the work product of Independent Adjusters.

• Negotiates with various parties, such as contractors or insured representatives, and communicates claim settlements within authority limits.

• Drafts denial letters, Reservations of Rights, and other complex correspondence.

• Accurately assesses the extent of damages and manages them through effective utilization of cost evaluation tools.

• Adheres to all quality standards and expectations as outlined in the Knowledge Guides.

• Maintains a diary system that captures all required data and documents related to claim file activities, in line with established procedures.

• Oversees file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases.

• Complies with state regulations when managing files, as applicable.

• Delivers exceptional customer service to fulfill the needs of insureds, agents, and all internal and external customers/business partners.

• Identifies when to escalate claims to Travelers' Special Investigations Unit and/or Subrogation Unit.

• Performs administrative tasks such as managing expense accounts and time-off reporting, as required.

• Offers multi-line assistance in response to workforce management needs, which includes claim handling for Auto, Workers Compensation, General Liability, and other business areas as necessary.

• May provide mentoring and coaching to less experienced claims professionals.

• May attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials, and other legal proceedings as needed.

• CAT Duty: This role involves participation in our Catastrophe Response Program, which may require deployment for a minimum of 16 days (including 2 travel days) to assist customers in other states.

• Must obtain and maintain a company credit card as required.

• To fulfill the essential functions of this position, obtaining and maintaining Insurance License(s) and/or a UAS Remote Pilot Certification may be necessary to comply with federal, state, and Travelers' requirements.

• Bachelor's Degree.

• General knowledge of the estimating system Xactimate.

• Two or more years of previous experience in handling outside property claims.

• Advanced interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Intermediate judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.

• Intermediate negotiation skills.

• Intermediate written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey and receive information.

• Intermediate ability to analyze and evaluate damages.

• Intermediate capability to resolve claims within settlement authority.

• Valid passport.
