This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Engage actively in structured training sessions that cover insurance policies, specific claims procedures, systems, and protocols, which may include virtual, classroom, and hands-on training.
• Review, investigate, and document first-party property claims under close supervision.
• Collect information from policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and third-party providers.
• Learn to investigate and assess all pertinent facts and information, including but not limited to analyzing leases, contracts, by-laws, and other relevant documents that may have an impact.
• Determine and apply coverage for building damages according to policy terms.
• Establish an accurate scope of damages for building and contents losses, using this information as a basis for written estimates and/or computer-assisted estimates.
• Communicate promptly and professionally with customers, claimants, and internal stakeholders.
• Keep precise records of claim activity in claim management systems.
• Show a willingness to engage in continuous learning, particularly in areas of AI and digital transformation.
• Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and the rollout of digital tools while maintaining productivity and service quality.
• To fulfill the essential functions of this role, obtaining and maintaining Insurance License(s) and/or a UAS Remote Pilot Certification may be necessary to comply with federal, state, and Travelers' requirements.
• Generally, required Insurance License(s) must be secured within three months of commencing the role, and ongoing continuing education requirements must be adhered to as mandated.
• This role includes participation in our Catastrophe Response Program, which may involve deployment to assist customers in other states.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Previous internship or work experience in customer service or insurance.
• Willingness to obtain an active adjuster license where mandated by state law.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); open to learning claims management and estimating software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relay information clearly and professionally.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions within established authority.
• Exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to providing a positive experience for insureds and claimants.
• Attention to detail and organizational abilities; capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
• Basic conflict resolution skills; eagerness to learn techniques for facilitating productive discussions and negotiations.
• Demonstrated openness to continuous learning.
