Outpatient Surgery Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Precisely assign and organize ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient surgery, observation, and ancillary encounters.

• Operate within Epic work queues.

• Examine operative reports and clinical documentation to ensure compliant and accurate facility coding.

• Code ambulatory surgery and observation encounters.

• Abstract clinical and demographic information into hospital systems.

• Guarantee coding compliance with CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and AHIMA/AAPC standards.

• Choose APC assignments and confirm claim readiness.

• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to obtain necessary clarifications.

• Assist in emergency department and outpatient diagnostics coding as required by volume.

• Uphold departmental productivity and quality standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of outpatient medical coding experience.

• Experience in surgical medical coding.

• One of the following credentials is mandatory: CCS, CPC, COC, RHIA, or RHIT.

• Epic experience is preferred.

• Emergency Department coding experience is preferred.

• Outpatient diagnostics coding experience is preferred.

• Experience in cross-covering multiple outpatient work queues is preferred.

• A broad procedural coding background across various specialties is preferred.

• Candidates must reside in one of the approved states: Virginia, Texas, Florida, or North Carolina.

• Successful completion of a coding certificate program with AHIMA approval status is preferred.
