This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Code encounters related to ambulatory surgery, observation, and ancillary services.

• Review clinical documentation and operative reports to accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.

• Abstract clinical and demographic information into hospital information systems.

• Ensure coding accuracy and adherence to guidelines from CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, AHIMA, and AAPC.

• Assign and validate Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs) and assist in claim readiness.

• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation when necessary.

• Provide assistance with diagnostic coding for emergency departments and outpatient services based on departmental workload.

• Meet established standards for productivity, quality, and accuracy.

• Manage assigned encounters through Epic work queues utilizing service-date-based workflow management.


⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must reside in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, or Texas.

• Completion of a coding program accredited by AHIMA or AAPC is required.

• An active coding certification, such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or an equivalent, is necessary.

• A minimum of 4–5 years of recent experience in hospital-based outpatient coding is essential.

• Familiarity with Epic systems is preferred.

• Strong experience in facility coding is required.

• Experience in acute care hospital settings is necessary.

• Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and outpatient reimbursement methodologies is a must.

• Emergency Department coding experience is preferred but not mandatory.

• Experience in outpatient diagnostics coding is also preferred.

• Prior experience managing multiple outpatient work queues is advantageous.

• Broad procedural coding experience across various specialties is preferred.

• Availability for a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week, is required.

• Ability to meet established standards for productivity, quality, and accuracy is essential.
