Outbound Referral Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Process and coordinate outgoing referrals to specialists, imaging centers, physical therapy providers, and ancillary healthcare services.

• Keep patients updated on the status of their referrals, scheduling requirements, and any necessary documentation.

• Verify insurance eligibility and confirm referral authorization requirements prior to submission.

• Develop and maintain an up-to-date directory of providers and facilities that accept Medicaid and other insurance plans.

• Research in-network providers to direct patients toward suitable referral placements and ensure uninterrupted care.

• Accurately document all referral activities within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

• Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, and front office staff to facilitate timely care coordination.

• Follow up with external providers and facilities to confirm appointment scheduling and obtain outstanding reports.

• Monitor referral work queues to guarantee timely completion and identify bottlenecks before they affect patient care.

• Act as a resource for patients managing referral logistics, insurance requirements, and the next steps in their treatment.

• Adhere to HIPAA standards and maintain strict confidentiality in all patient interactions.

• Proactively identify and resolve referral delays or challenges to keep patient care on track.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience in an orthopedic or specialty clinic setting is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency with EMR/EHR platforms and a working knowledge of medical terminology.

• Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Ability to work efficiently at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy and a high standard of professionalism.

• Bilingual.
