This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Take ownership of product-level SEO and AI Search strategies by utilizing performance data, in-depth competitor analysis, and audience insights to identify opportunities, address coverage gaps, and enhance content effectiveness over time — ultimately driving qualified traffic that leads to Mercury account applications and revenue.
• Collaborate across teams, including Social, Product, Product Marketing, Engineering, and Community, to transform SEO and AEO opportunities into tangible outcomes across various channels — such as blog content, YouTube scripts, social media, and community platforms.
• Manage the technical SEO/AEO roadmap for Mercury.com, closely partnering with Engineering to enhance page speed, rendering, and site architecture while experimenting with new delivery methods to ensure the site is fast and accessible for both users and bots.
• Develop repeatable systems, AI workflows, and guidelines that boost the consistency, efficiency, and impact of Mercury’s SEO and AEO initiatives.
• Lead SEO-driven evergreen content optimizations, collaborating with content partners to enhance performance while maintaining writing quality, usefulness, and adherence to brand standards.
• Identify and define high-value tools, templates, calculators, downloadable PDFs, and other multi-format resources that enhance the utility, shareability, linkability, and citation value of Mercury content.
• Continuously experiment with new strategies to enhance traditional and AI search traffic and visibility — from creating new page types to implementing edge caching for bots — scaling successful tactics, discontinuing ineffective ones, and incorporating insights back into team-wide strategy.
• Over 5 years of SEO experience, with 2-3 years concentrated on AEO, preferably in a dynamic startup environment.
• Profound technical understanding coupled with a clear comprehension of how LLMs evaluate and prioritize content differently than conventional search engines.
• A demonstrated ability to convert strategy into delivered, high-quality work independently — prioritizing tasks without waiting for direction.
• Practical experience with AI agents and automation tools, possessing a builder's mindset for creating repeatable systems.
• Keen, data-driven judgment to discern what to prioritize, what to scale, and what to eliminate.
