Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Collaborate as part of a two-person Rail Flaw Detection team to inspect the rail infrastructure across the United States.

• Safely operate and maintain Rail Inspection vehicles both on and off the tracks.

• Support the Chief Operator by modifying inspection speeds, communicating upcoming track features, and identifying defects.

• Repair the ultrasonic testing carriage and its components under the guidance of the Chief Operator.

• Prepare the vehicle for the following day's testing by performing light cleaning, refilling the water tank, and checking equipment.

• Conduct DOT vehicle inspection checks before and after each journey.

• Drive Rail Inspection Vehicles on both roads and rails.

• Maintain and submit electronic driver logs, fuel reports, business expense records, and necessary documentation.

• Assist the Chief Operator during testing operations.

• Mark defective rails using permanent markers, spray paint, and flagging tape.

• Carry out light housekeeping duties to ensure a tidy work environment.

• Collaborate with the Chief Operator on 5S activities.

• Grease, lubricate, tighten bolts, and repair or coordinate repairs for defective parts of the ultrasonic testing carriage.

• Manage vehicle inventory and submit monthly inventory and maintenance reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.

• One or more years of professional driving experience is preferred.

• Strong driving habits with experience operating larger trucks.

• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic hand tools.

• General computer proficiency.

• Knowledge of Office 365 and Microsoft Windows.

• Willingness to be away from home for extended periods.

• Readiness to travel frequently and extensively (approximately 60% travel expected).

• Previous experience in the railroad industry is an advantage.

• A team player committed to prioritizing customer satisfaction safely and ethically.

• Capability to lift over 50 lbs. and stand for prolonged periods.

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk unassisted.

• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and travel with minimal notice.

• Ability and readiness to perform mechanical and technical work on fleet vehicles.

• Proficient in using personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hard hats, safety vests, leather gloves, and safety toe boots.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a drug screening and fitness-for-duty test, as required.

• Normal, correctable vision.
