Operations Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• The Operations Manager will be instrumental in furthering Newtrient's customer-focused conservation initiatives by assessing dairy farms and proposing a variety of solutions aimed at enhancing on-farm efficiencies, minimizing environmental impact, increasing resilience, and boosting economic sustainability.

• Execute farm evaluations to assess current conditions and create tailored plans with economically feasible recommendations for practices and technologies that lessen a farm's environmental footprint.

• Offer assistance for industry resources pertaining to environmental practices and technologies, including overseeing initiatives that evaluate technologies, practices, manure additives, and feed additives for Newtrient's Solution Catalog.

• Act as a subject matter expert on dairy farm practices and technologies by providing direct consultation to farms interested in adopting these practices and technologies, as well as to dairy companies and trade associations involved in the processing, manufacturing, distribution, and marketing of dairy products.

• Deliver technical expertise regarding current and emerging policies impacting dairy farms through discussions with Newtrient members, the dairy community, vendors, and industry stakeholders.

• Engage in industry groups, such as the American Biogas Council, to remain informed about industry advancements and ensure representation for the dairy sector.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of relevant experience is required, preferably in agriculture or a related field; project management experience demonstrating a proven track record of delivering on time and within budget.

• Strong technical knowledge related to dairy production and manure management.

• Highly proficient in translating scientific concepts into actionable insights for farmers, policymakers, technology vendors, and supply chain companies.

• Experience in performing environmental assessments or research, preferably within the dairy or agricultural sectors.

• Understanding of project budgeting, cost management, and performance metrics reporting.

• Knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions, climate-smart practices, and sustainable agriculture principles.

• Familiarity with agricultural/dairy policies and environmental issues.

• Ability to work independently and travel to farms as necessary.

• Capable of managing conflicting priorities in a multi-tasking environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong presentation abilities.

• Proficient in communicating effectively with a diverse range of audiences, particularly within the agricultural community.

• Proven strong judgment, time management, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong work ethic and integrity; a representative of farmer values.

• Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial or ambiguous environment.
